How to Promote School Spirit!

Spirit is serious business in Wisconsin. Hayward High School recently won our $100 gift card for having too much spirit. Most schools start off purchasing their own stuff, but when they run out soon and require us, we like to reward our coaches. So congratulations, Hayward Community High School! When we reached out to the school, we were given pretty good insight as to how spirit items are used. When promoting school spirit, Hayward H.S. will use shirts as free gifts at home games for fan appreciation nights. When asked how well they work Barbara Chiszar the Athletic Director said, “Everyone loves it!” The Hayward Hurricanes also give out the pom poms to students for that extra cheer. School Pride is more than yelling from the bleachers. It’s getting people involved. It’s instilling a sense of ownership in everyone. School Spirit brings out the competitive drive in each of us and is a constant reminder that we need to finish 100%. So the next time you’re throwing a shirt into home crowd, or yelling, “SCORE BIG,” from a megaphone, do it with Spirit!
